چکیده

Abstract Friction stir spot welding is a solid-state joining process that has attracted significant attention particularly in the field of lightweight, low melting alloys. These materials include alloys Aluminium and Magnesium amongst many others which are great importance to aerospace automobile industries. The friction complex thermo-mechanical multiphysics phenomenon currently intense research. motivation current study understand this behaviour by simulating it ABAQUS CAE environment. In technique, plunge stage identified as critical operation involves highly transient dynamic zone for material temperature flows. was studied detail using finite element based model. plasticity simulated Johnson-Cook model while frictional heat generation captured applying penalty-based contact between rotating tool workpiece surfaces. Considering reasonable assumptions made, results obtained numerical simulation were found agree with past experimental numerically modelled studies.

Friction stir welding and processing

Friction stir welding (FSW) is a relatively new solid-state joining process. This joining technique is energy efficient, environment friendly, and versatile. In particular, it can be used to join high-strength aerospace aluminum alloys and other metallic alloys that are hard to weld by conventional fusion welding. FSW is considered to be the most significant development in metal joining in a de...

Review: friction stir welding tools

Friction stir welding (FSW) is a widely used solid state joining process for soft materials such as aluminium alloys because it avoids many of the common problems of fusion welding. Commercial feasibility of the FSW process for harder alloys such as steels and titanium alloys awaits the development of cost effective and durable tools which lead to structurally sound welds consistently. Material...

Analysis and Comparison of Friction Stir Welding and Laser Assisted Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum Alloy

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a solid-state joining process; i.e., no melting occurs. The welding process is promoted by the rotation and translation of an axis-symmetric non-consumable tool along the weld centerline. Thus, the FSW process is performed at much lower temperatures than conventional fusion welding, nevertheless it has some disadvantages. Laser Assisted Friction Stir Welding (LAFS...

Study of Mechanical Properties Change During Friction Stir Spot Welding of Aluminium Alloys

The Friction Stir Welding process is now 20 years old and the interest in it and its potential continues to increase dramatically. FSW can be applied to a multitude of products with varying material types and thicknesses. However, a continuous weld is not always required to meet the product performance requirements. Thus, one can consider some form of intermittent weld, such as Friction Stir Sp...

The Mechanical Properties Evaluation of the Welded Sheets of AA 3105 Aluminum Alloy Using Friction Stir Spot Welding (FSSW)

Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) is a type of solid state welding that is used in the connection of small pieces and light metals such as aluminum alloy especially. The technical problem during melting of aluminum alloys is one of the most important reasons for developing application of friction stir welding for aluminum alloys. In this research, the effects of important processing parameters ...
